Common questions
Getting started
When you first open the app, you’ll set up your own profile — a photo, your name, the country you’re playing out of, and any titles you’d like read out. You’re always in the round, so a solo round is still an announced round.
From there, add the rest of your group to the Player Book, start a round, and pick a hole to begin announcing.
Why isn’t an announcement playing?
Announcements are generated over the internet, so first check that your iPhone has a working connection. Then check that your ringer isn’t on silent and the volume is up — announcements play through the media channel, so the silent switch can catch you out.
If it still fails, the app will show you the reason. Send that message along in an email and it’ll help track the problem down.
Can I change the announcer’s voice?
Yes. The voice is chosen per round when you set it up, so you can use a different one each time. There are four to pick from: British Male, Scottish Male, American Male, and American Female.
How do I add or edit a player?
Open the Player Book and tap Add New Player, or tap any existing player to edit their card. You can change their photo, name, country, and titles at any time.
Each player needs a distinct name — if a name is already taken, the app will tell you and won’t let you save a duplicate. Adding a middle initial or nickname is the easiest way around two players who genuinely share a name.
How do player photos work?
Tap the photo at the top of a player’s card to take a new one or choose from your library. After that you can pinch to zoom and drag to reframe, then tap Use Photo to save the crop. Double-tapping zooms in on the spot you tapped.
Photos are stored on your device only and are never uploaded.
What does the applause slider do?
At the bottom of each hole you’ll find an applause control. Slide it toward Par for a polite ripple, Birdie for a proper cheer, or Eagle for a full gallery roar, then tap the button to play it. An ovation also follows every announcement automatically.
Can I remove myself from the Player Book?
You can edit your own profile, but not delete it — the app needs one profile to know who’s always on the tee. To clear everything, delete the app from your iPhone.
Does it work without a connection?
The Player Book and round setup work offline, but announcements and applause need a connection the first time they’re generated.
How do I delete my data?
Remove individual players from the Player Book, or delete the app to erase the player book, photos, and round history from your device. See the privacy policy for the full picture.
